What is ClearStep?

ClearStep is an orthodontic technology used to straighten teeth without traditional metal braces.
You wear a series of customised removable, clear aligners which gradually move your teeth into the desired position.
ClearStep invisible braces can be removed easily so you can floss and brush your teeth normally during treatment.

ClearStep uses clear, polymer positioners to move teeth in small increments.
Each positioner is designed to apply controlled force on the patient's teeth. The specific teeth to be moved and the amount of movement will depend on the patient, and will be determined by our dentist.

As with traditional braces, treatment times vary depending on the patient and how much movement is required. However, treatment time is generally about the same as traditional braces, between 9 and 18 months.

We recommend that patients do not smoke while wearing ClearStep aligners as they may become discoloured.

Your ClearStep clear aligners should be worn all day, except when eating, brushing and flossing. The closer to 24 hours a day positioners are worn, the better the results of treatment.

ClearStep invisible braces are as effective as traditional braces for most types of treatment.

For some people there will be temporary discomfort at the beginning of each stage of treatment. This means that ClearStep is effectively moving your teeth. Any discomfort typically lasts only a couple of days, and is at the beginning of each stage of treatment.

On averange you will need to visit our dentist every six weeks whilst undergoing ClearStep orthodontic treatment.

ClearStep invisible braces are removable so you can still enjoy your favourite food and drinks.
You need to avoid tooth decay and /or gum disease by not forcing the food particles and sugars against
your teeth via the ClearStep aligners. So keeping them clean is important.
